Our products are created from the purest organic and biodynamic botanicals, pure plant alcohol and living water. Certified organic, they are truly botanical, natural drinks.

Rare and exotic spices are sourced from family friends in France, long-established spice merchants. Closer to home, all citrus is Hawkes Bay grown by certified organic growers. Our botanicals are either wild foraged or grown in local “Gin gardens”, farmed using biodynamic methods. Our aim is to create in accordance with the laws of nature, working with her rather than in opposition.

Constitution

Organic principles provide the framework to work alongside nature, disallowing the use of synthetic inputs such as fertiliser and insecticides. Biodynamics takes this further. While it has much in common with organics, consideration is given to the influences of the wider cosmos on soil, plant and animal health. Our Gin gardens are managed biodynamically with cosmic rhythms including movements of the moon and planets identifying the most auspicious times for planting, harvesting, and cultivation.

Our base alcohol is pure, organic, 96% and exclusively plant based rather than the more commonly used whey spirit, a dairy industry by-product. As well as ensuring our drinks are vegan, it provides a respectful canvas for the expression of our botanicals and our artistry.

The location of our water came to Kate in a dream (but that’s a story for another time). It is sourced from a natural spring in the Kaweka ranges. While standard practise is the removal of mineral content via filtration, this deadens the water. We leave our water as it springs from the mountain, with all minerals intact. It is a true signature of the place. As Viktor Schauberger observed, the vitality of water is due to its movement. To maintain this vitality we use a flow form to reproduce the rhythmic patterns found in nature and if storage is required, use a ceramic egg shaped vessel that keeps the water alive.

In everything we do we try and follow nature’s lead. Foraged, organic or biodynamic botanicals, pure organic spirit and living water. Everything you would expect from premium craft spirits.

Biogro Certified

Our commitment to organics is shown in our Biogro certification, ensuring all aspects of our production (botanicals, alcohol, water, packaging) have been checked, audited and certified by New Zealand’s largest certification agency.

Packaging

The transparent seal on our bottles is made from environmentally friendly, compostable cellulose. The bottles themselves and label paper are made by long established European manufacturers under EU environmental regulations.

‘London Dry’

Historically, the term London Dry relates to the production methods. This dictates that the Gin must be made from pure 96% ABV neutral spirit of agricultural origin, all botanical flavour must be imparted through distillation and nothing can be added after, the Gin must be dry. While our Gins adhere to the law governing this term, they are a modern, unconventional interpretation of the classical style.
